Anthem Tryouts on Feb. 21 at Oakview Mall

OMAHA, NE - For a fourth consecutive year, the Omaha Royals annual National Anthem tryouts will be held at Oakview Mall.

The "Oh Say Can You Sing" tryouts will be held on Saturday, February 21st from 10 a.m.-3:00 p.m. Registration will begin at 9:30 a.m. Those interested in trying out may also register in advance by going to www.oroyals.com and clicking on the "Fans" tab to fill out a registration form.

Soloists, instrumentalists and groups are all welcome to try out. Judging will be based on lyrical accuracy, voice quality, presentation, voice projection and overall performance quality. Music and/or lyric sheets will not be allowed at the auditions.

The performers selected will have the opportunity to sing the National Anthem at one of the Royals 72 home games. Each group or soloist chosen will receive up to four tickets to the game at which they perform.

"We are looking forward to again partnering with Oakview Mall to discover some of Omaha's most talented singers, who will be showcasing their skills at Rosenblatt Stadium in 2009," said Lesley Crutcher, Royals Director of Community Relations.

The Royals 2009 home opener at Rosenblatt Stadium is slated for Friday, April 17th at 7:05 p.m. vs. the Albuquerque Isotopes. 2009 season tickets, mini-plans and other ticket packages are currently on sale, with single-game tickets to go on sale at a later date to be announced. ABOUT THE ROYALS: Readers of Omaha Magazine voted the Omaha Royals as Best Omaha Sports Team in the magazine's 17th annual Best of Omaha Awards, published in its January/February 2009 edition. In 2008, 349,376 fans attended Omaha Royals home games, making the Royals the largest-drawing sports team or event in the metro area last year.
