The St. Lucie Mets announced Tuesday that three-time Cy Young Award winner, Pedro Martinez will make a rehab start Wednesday at 7 p.m. ET against 2007 No. 1 overall Draft pick David Price and the Vero Beach Devil Rays at Tradition Field. In a game that can be heard exclusively on MiLB.com's Gameday Audio, Martinez will make his first official start since straining his left hamstring in his first start of the 2008 season with the New York Mets. Martinez will be going against Price, the highly touted Tampa Bay Rays prospect who made his professional debut last week. In his only start, Price earned the win after scattering three hits over five shutout innings. Martinez spent time with the St. Lucie Mets last season rehabbing another injury. In his three starts, Pedro went 1-1 with an ERA of 3.21. Martinez was solid in his last two starts for St. Lucie last season, a win against Brevard County and a no-decision against the Palm Beach Cardinals. In 11 innings pitched, Martinez tallied eight strikeouts while giving up seven hits without allowing an earned run. Pedro was effective after joining the big league club after his rehab with St. Lucie. Martinez was 3-1 with a 2.57 ERA in five starts at the end of last season for New York.
