Thomas Hanson would have been hard-pressed to repeat his season-opening performance in which he struck out 13 batters over five no-hit innings. The 21-year-old right-hander would probably settle for a win at this point. Hanson allowed just one hit over six shutout innings with seven strikeouts, but had to settle for a second straight no-decision as the Potomac Nationals rallied for a 4-3 victory over the Myrtle Beach Pelicans on Wednesday at Pfitzner Stadium. The Oklahoma native allowed a one-out single in the second inning and issued a one-out walk in the third and a lead-off walk in the six. He exited the game with a 2-0 lead after six frames. With two outs in the eighth, Christopher Marrero drilled a game-tying three-run homer off reliever Bryan Dumesnil. Jemel Spearman capped the comeback for the P-Nats (3-2) with a bases-loaded single in the bottom of the ninth. Brett Butts (0-1) took the loss, giving up two runs on four hits and a walk while recording just four outs. Hanson has tossed 11 scoreless innings to start the season, allowing three walks and one hit while striking out 20 in the process. He fanned 154 over 133 innings between Class A Rome and A Advanced Myrtle Beach a year ago and was named a South Atlantic League Midseason All-Star. Travis Jones doubled and scored on Willie Cabrera's groundout in the first and smacked a two-run double in the third to stake Hanson to the early lead. Outfield prospect Gorkys Hernandez went 2-for-4 with a run for the Pelicans (3-3). Chad Cordero (1-0), making a rehab appearance for the Washington Nationals, allowed a hit and fanned one in a scoreless ninth for the win. Potomac starter Adrian Alaniz, making his Carolina League debut after going 8-2 with a 2.39 ERA in 21 games for the short-season Vermont Lake Monsters in 2007, allowed three runs on three hits and two walks with two strikeouts in four innings.
