Albuquerque, NM - The Memphis Redbirds gained a split in their four-game series at Albuquerque with a 2-1 win at Isotopes Park.

In a rare pitchers' dual in the light desert air, Anthony Reyes dominated as he ran his record to 3-1 on the season. Reyes fanned a season-high nine batters while giving up just three hits. Albuquerque's first hit did not come until the fourth inning when MIke Kinkade hit a lead-off triple. Reyes then received some defensive help from John Gall. Scott Seabol followed with a fly ball to left field and Kinkade tagged up and headed home, but Gall threw a strike to Mike Rose who applied the tag in time to get Kinkade.

The play preserved a 2-0 Memphis lead. Skip Schumaker led off the game with a single and scored on Derek Wathan's triple. John Nelson made it 2-0 Redbirds with a sacrifice fly to left field.

The score remained 2-0 until the seventh inning. With two outs, Reyes allowed back-to-back doubles to Mike Colangelo and James Shanks as the Isotopes pulled within one run. Reyes was pulled in favor of Andy Cavazos. Paul Hoover lined out to right field on Cavazos' first pitch for the final out of the inning. Cavazos also pitched a scoreless eigth inning.

With Brian Falkenborg unavailable Sunday night, Danny Sheaffer called on Josh Kinney, who came in 0-for-3 in save opportunities this season. He made the most of the opportunity as he struck out the side, getting seasoned veterans Mike Kinkade, Scott Seabol and Mike Colangelo for his first Triple-A save.

Jeff Fulchino (2-4) was the hard luck loser after turning in seven strong innings. He allowed only three hits while striking out seven.

The Redbirds gained a split of the series after dropping the first two games to the Isotopes. The back-to-back wins follow a six-game Redbirds losing streak.

Memphis will return home for a 13-game, 14-day homestand at AutoZone Park beginning on Monday night against Oklahoma at 7:10 p.m.

NOTES: Chris Narveson will join the Redbirds Monday night and will get the start Tuesday night. He has been recovering from shoulder surgery. Randy Leek has been moved to the bullpen to make room for Narveson in the starting rotation...John Nelson extended his hitting streak to eight games.

Monday Night's Probables:
Memphis - RHP Dennis Tankersley (2-6, 4.39)
Oklahoma - TBA
