Mulder Coming to Memphis
08/09/2006 11:50 AM ET

Memphis, Tenn. - St. Louis Cardinals pitcher Mark Mulder is scheduled to make a rehabilitation start this Friday with the Redbirds.

The start will be Mulder's second rehab outing with his first coming at Single-A Quad Cities last Sunday. The left-hander tossed five innings and allowed one run on two hits with a pair of walks and a strikeout for the Swing.

Mulder was placed on the disabled list June 21 with an impingement in his left shoulder. At the time of his injury the southpaw was 6-5 with a 6.09 ERA in 15 starts for the Cardinals.

The six-year veteran had never pitched below the Triple-A level in his career until the start at Quad Cities. He pitched in the Pacific Coast League in 1999 for Vancouver and 2000 for Sacramento before being called up by Oakland. Memphis beat Mulder in 1999 at Vancouver when he tossed seven innings and allowed four runs, three earned, on seven hits.

The Redbirds will welcome the Iowa Cubs to town for a five-game series in four days beginning Friday. Mulder will face the Cubs' Angel Guzman (4-4). Game time is scheduled for 7:10 p.m. For ticket information call (901) 721-6000 or visit memphisredbirds.com.
