WASHINGTON -- The Nationals announced on Wednesday afternoon that outfielder Ryan Langerhans and reliever Lavale Speigner cleared waivers and were outrighted to Triple-A Syracuse.

Washington also announced that left-hander Charlie Manning was claimed off waivers by the Cardinals.

Langerhans, 28, hit .234 with three home runs and 12 RBIs in 73 games with Washington this season, while Speigner, 28, gave up 10 runs in eight innings.

Manning, 29, was 1-3 with a 5.14 ERA in 57 outings with the Nationals. He was the main lefty out of the bullpen until the month of September, when Michael Hinckley took over the role.

The Nationals now have 36 players on their 40-man roster, not including five players on the 60-day disabled list.
