Hello everyone! Its hard to believe that it is the first week of August already.

Although I am beginning to feel worn down from what has been a long season and a long, very busy two years for me, it has seemed to go by pretty darn fast.

I have now been in Clearwater, Fla., for six months and saying that makes it harder to believe how fast things have gone. July was a easily my best month as a professional baseball player and would have been better without my last outing of the month.

Part of being in this game is learning to deal with results that you have never dealt with previously. As the game gets harder, they are just going to be tough days, weeks, months and maybe even tough seasons. I can honestly say that I was able to handle this tough outing much better than I would have six months ago.

The last few weeks have been tough for the team as we have spent most of the time on the road. A lot of bus rides and hotel stays took its toll on the health of some of the guys, including myself. We have been passing around a sore throat/cold/congestion combo that left several guys feeling weak and tired. It certainly kept me up for a night or two!

It's now time to start thinking about a strong finish and preparing for what the offseason will bring. For some, going back to school will be an option, while others will look for jobs. I found out recently that I will be attending Instructional League after the regular season is over to hopefully continue my development as a pitcher.

I would like to say the best of luck to the USA Olympic team as they open up competition in the coming days. I have several friends who will be playing in China and hope they can come home with the gold!

Thanks again for reading and enjoy your weekend!
