Yohan Pino retired the first 16 batters he faced over eight dominant frames on Thursday as visiting Beloit beat Cedar Rapids, 4-1.

Pino (13-2) allowed three hits and fanned seven without issuing a walk, lowering his ERA to 2.02. The 22-year-old right-hander set down the Kernels until Marco Albano belted an inside-the-park homer with one out in the sixth inning.

After accumulating an 8-2 record with three saves out of the bullpen, Pino has gone 5-0 for the Snappers (35-24) since joining their starting rotation July 23. In both roles combined, he has struck out 97 batters and walked only 18, with opponents hitting just .197 against him.

Dan Leatherman worked around a walk in the ninth to notch his fourth save.

Juan Portes led off the third with his second homer and added an RBI single during Beloit's two-run fifth. Toby Gardenhire knocked in a run with a groundout and Edward Ovalle plated a run with a single.

Cedar Rapids starter Brok Butcher (3-2) surrendered four runs on six hits and struck out five over seven innings. Timothy Didjurgis and Richard Aldridge pitched a scoreless inning apiece for Cedar Rapids (26-32), which lost its second straight.
