Oswaldo Morejon collected his 1,000th career hit with a leadoff single in the fourth inning of his Leones de Yucatan's 9-5 victory Monday.

After going 0-for-4 in each of his last two games, Morejon went 1-for-3 to reach his milestone as the Leones topped Olmecas de Tabasco, 9-5, in Mexican League action.

The 27-year-old second baseman missed the chance in the second inning, when he hit a fly ball to right field, but accomplished the feat with a line drive to left in a five-run fourth. He then scored and later walked in the fourth, flew out to center in the sixth and was hit by a pitch in the eighth.

Morejon joined the Leones in 1997 and has a .280 career average. This season, he is batting .299 (89-for-298) and is third on his team in hits.

Morejon is fifth on the list of career hits in the league. Juan Jose Pacho Burgos, manager of the Rojos del Aguila de Veracruz, is first with 1,768.
