CHARLESTON, SC -- The Charleston RiverDogs have unveiled a special logo to celebrate the 10th anniversary of their home field, Joseph P. Riley, Jr. Park.

To coincide with the festivities of the 10th anniversary, the club has announced a bevy of promotions that will help celebrate the first decade at "The Joe."

"The fans in the Lowcountry have simply been outstanding the past 10 years and we're excited about celebrating the 10th anniversary of Riley Park," said RiverDogs general manager Dave Echols. "We have enjoyed a tremendous working relationship with Mayor Joe Riley and the city of Charleston and The Citadel, our partners who also play at Riley Park.

"We also appreciative of our off-field partners -- our many sponsors -- especially Beazer Homes," he added. "And while we celebrate the first decade in the park, we're equally excited about the future in this beautiful park."

The logo, which was created by Veeck Advertising, features the recognizable Charlie the RiverDog with a broken bat in his mouth. It is surrounded by the circular sign at the main entrance of the ball park with "10 Years" emblazoned on it. In addition, primary sponsor Beazer Homes' logo and the year "2006" also appear.

In traditional RiverDogs fashion, several promotions are planned to coincide with the 10th anniversary celebration.

"Joes" in for Free: In honor of the 10th anniversary of Riley Park, the RiverDogs will allow the first 50 fans at every game named "Joe" into the park for free and sit together in a special "Joes" section for the entire 2006 season.

Top Ten: The club will allow fans to choose the RiverDogs' top 10 promotions from the past 10 seasons and will be incorporated into the promotions schedule for the 2006 season. Fans can cast votes for their favorite promotion on the RiverDogs website.

Special Giveaways: Two giveaways that are planned for the '06 season will highlight the season-long celebration. T-shirt Giveaway (May 20) will feature a Top Ten list from the past decade of RiverDogs Baseball on the banks of the Ashley River. The 10th anniversary, also known as the "Tin Anniversary" when it is customary to give a present made of tin, the RiverDogs will oblige on September 2 as they give the first 1,000 fans a "10th Anniversary Tin." In addition, inside randomly selected tins, fans will have the opportunity once again to "Win the Boss's Money" as the RiverDogs will give away $100 from each year of the past decade ($1,000 total) immediately following the game.

Year of the Dog: 2006 is the Year of the Dog according to the Chinese calendar. The RiverDogs have planned numerous and festive events highlighted each Friday night with an obvious Chinese invention...postgame fireworks!
